Prison Ministry
Pro-grace Life recovery
Out of Incarceration into a life of purpose
We are professionals who take our work personally.
Our mission is to restore the lives of those affected by incarceration. We come alongside each person, showing the love of Christ and providing the instruction, guidance, resources, and opportunities for a new, godly life.
We are passionate about our work. Most of our staff are ex-offenders, in recovery, or have been personally affected by crime. That’s why we care. More importantly, that’s why we are so good at what we do.
PRO-grace Prison Ministry exists to catalyze the church, commerce, and communities to turn the cycle of incarceration and its consequences into a cycle of restoration and hope.
WE BELIEVE All are created in the image of God and can be restored to godly lives. Your past does not define you or your future. Real change comes from the inside out . As a Christian organization, we serve anyone, regardless of their faith. PRO-grace Prison Ministry (PPM) brings hope to men and women coming home from prison or jail by providing meaningful community, employment success, and a deepening relationship with God.
Our vision is that churches surround each person, providing care and support. Our training and instruction lead to long-term employment that provides for physical needs. Our mentoring relationships lead to purpose and potential. Our vision is to see the collaborative action of church, commerce, and community break the cycle of crime and incarceration.
We are Christ-centered because we believe in the restorative teaching and actions of Jesus who sees everyone as valuable and worthy of another opportunity.
We are church-based because we believe restoration takes place in grace-filled groups where a variety of resources exist. We are collaborative because we know that creating a cycle of restoration requires a partnership with everyone who touches the life of someone released from incarceration.
We are relational because we believe that life-change happens best one-on-one where trust and hope are the basis of coaching and accountability. We are empowering because we believe every person, regardless of the choices they have made, has dignity and value.
Programs
There is Hope
Every day we meet with those returning home from jail or prison, and with the families of those that are incarcerated. Most are overwhelmed, confused, and in despair while facing an uncertain future. Our programs offer restoration and hope with solid biblical principles guided by a caring and compassionate staff.
Family
The families of those incarcerated are victims too. Managing emotions and the tangible loss of a family member is overwhelming. Our Stronger Together program helps families process and heal with those who have been through the same journey and come out on the other side. The two end goals? Peace and reconciliation
Stronger Together
We know incarceration is a major struggle for families. PRO-grace Life Recovery walks alongside them while loved ones are absent, and helps families prepare for when loved ones return. We provide social and emotional support to families in need. We believe a family is stronger when they’re together.
Freed to love and be loved
There are over 75000 inmates in Uganda prison system. Nearly half of them are parents. PRO-grace walks alongside families while loved ones are incarcerated, and helps families prepare for when loved ones return.
“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
Ephesians 4:32
Participate
Whether you are a returning citizen or you have a family member who is or has been incarcerated, we are here for you. Let’s work together and make a change.
Get involved
In Luke 10, Jesus is asked, “Who is my neighbor?” Using the parable of the Good Samaritan, He illustrates how we become a neighbor to those in need.
At PRO-grace, our neighbors are largely invisible. Offenders don’t readily volunteer their status, and families of those incarcerated who are dealing with shame, guilt, and anger similarly don’t share their situation.While they may be invisible, their needs are huge. They need guidance, encouragement, and hope. Here’s how you can get involved;
GIVE
Because we are a biblically-based organization, we rely on individual generous donors like you. Whether it’s a one-time, monthly, or annual gift, an estate gift, or shopping using Amazon, your gift creates redemption and hope
DONATE
PRO-grace Prison Ministry is a life-changing community of genuine, imperfect, and determined people with dreams to live. You play a major role in making this transforming impact a reality. The truth is, without you, it wouldn’t even be possible.
REENTRY
There’s more to successful reentry than saying, “Don’t commit another crime.” Release without internal change or opportunities to succeed often lead to re-arrest.
Our reentry program provides training and coaching in life skills, job readiness, mentoring, as well as job placement to set up those coming home for success. Hope after incarceration begins with a phone call to PRO-grace Life Recovery. We greet participants with a kind voice and invite them to participate in life change.
Once fear begins to fade, we explain that through a classroom experience combined with works of service, we will ready them for employment opportunities and a trusting relationship with someone who cares.
