Community Development
Transforming the community
Restoring dignity to families
When we provide opportunities for families to break cycles of poverty, illiteracy and homelessness, we see hope rush in and lift up entire communities. Through our Something to Eat Every Day Program (SEED), we provide tools and training for families to learn agricultural skills, teaching them about responsibility, work ethic, and pride, while also helping them put food on the table and money in their pockets.
Strong families
The love of a family is life’s greatest blessing. Strong families build strong children. Aimed at helping hurting families recover and allowing vulnerable children to remain in their homes, We are one family (WAOF) is an intensive program that helps children and their parents learn how to relate to one another in a healthy way. In addition, the program helps parents who are struggling financially to begin microenterprises—learning job skills, money management, and responsibility along the way. Families who graduate from our WAOF programs are equipped with all the tools necessary to remain together and to grow spiritually, mentally, socially, and emotionally
We are one family
Children thrive when they grow up in a family setting, and there is no better place for them to experience healthy family dynamics than in their own homes. Many of the estimated 146 million orphans in the world today have at least one living parent. Alcoholism, drug abuse, violence and financial hardship all wreak havoc on families, placing children in at-risk situations. But they don’t have to remain there. Families find hope and healing through our WAOF projects.
Our vision
Flourishing communities with Christians (w)holistically engaged.
Mission
We strengthen and inspire PRO-grace Community Development practitioners for community transformation through equipping and connecting.
Our values
At PRO-grace Community Development PCD we practice
Equitable Mutuality
We believe that each person has something to gain and offer in community. Therefore, we monitor and calibrate power dynamics within our relationships and organizations as a means to achieve and maintain equitable mutuality
Biblical Rootedness
We believe that Scripture leads to authentic justice and equity, and to flourishing communities. Therefore, we gather together within diverse communities to explore Scripture for wisdom and guidance
Equipping Believers to Lead Churches
In places where there are no local churches, and for growing churches eager to share the Gospel with others in their communities, Church Planter Training provides the Bibles and training that lead to sustainable churches where they are needed most.
Cultural Intelligence
We include diverse cultural voices in our daily work and organizations. Therefore, to honor our valued diversity, we practice cultural intelligence to relate more effectively across cultural contexts and backgrounds.
Transformative Kinship
We provide avenues to nurture long-term relationships among association members, changing the way we live, learn and love in our respective communities.
Reconciliation
Reconciliation is the essence of shalom—restoring relationships where nothing is missing and nothing is broken. Jesus said that the essence of Christianity could be summed up in two inseparable commandments: Love God, and love thy neighbor (Mt 22:37-39)
