About Us

Who we are, where we come from, and where we’re headed as a church family

Who we are

Willow Church is a church that desires to be within reach of people who are far from God, as see them raised to new life in Christ. The church was founded in 2010 and we are hungry for a move of God! We desire to be God’s hands and feet to our world – to see the lost saved, and  the sick healed – that the glory of God would be revealed.

Where we come from

In 2010, a small group of Ugandan believers gathered together for worship, and to pioneer a new Pentecostal ministry to evangelize and minister to fellow Ugandan. The Lord blessed their efforts to spread the Gospel, and after meeting in several locations throughout the years, the church purchased the current property at Kakoba and opened its doors

Where we’re headed

What’s the bottom line? More than ever, Willow Church is committed to fostering a family built around Jesus – For Today. For tomorrow. And as we move forward as a church family, inclusion and belonging remain at the center of who we are as followers of Christ.

What this means for you

What does this mean for you? Most importantly, you’re always welcome at Willow Church. We’re saving a seat for you. Wherever you’re at in your faith journey, you’ll always be accepted as part of the family.

Beyond that, if you’re ready to plan your first visit,

Our story

Changing & Affecting Lives

Established in the fall of 2010 under the leadership of our Senior Pastor,Bagonza Robert, Willow Creek Community Ministries, Uganda is a multi-ethnic, non-denominational church with campuses in Mbarara Uganda. With a mission to change and affect lives, in a short period of time, Willow Church has grown from a small congregation into a flourishing multicultural community.

Using a holistic approach to modern day living, Willow Ministry is incorporating all aspects of living into one essential organization. Its ministry and services are dedicated to the promotion of spiritual well-being, physical well-being, as well as the economic empowerment of the individual. In short Willow Ministry is developing a people to achieve their full potential in life irrespective of socio-economic conditions or ethnic backgrounds.

Propelled by the Spirit of God Willow Church has been graced to transcend all denominational as well as cultural boundaries, creating a fresh and innovative template for the 21st century, which has come to characterize this new and cutting edge form of Christianity in Uganda.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT WIN! PLANT! GROW! MULTIPLY! WIN

Then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Philippians 2:2 (NIV) We believe that it is not the Church that has a mission, but that the Mission has a Church! Jesus commissioned every believer to go into the world and make disciples. We are fueled by God’s love, empowered by His Spirit, equipped by His Word to engage in every sphere of our world, representing Jesus and His Gospel of grace! We have designed our weekend services with the unchurched people in your world in mind. We will guard, protect, and honour that sacred trust!
PLANT Candles require candle stands, light bulbs need a socket, and seeds demand soil. God’s House is designed to help every believer stand, shine and grow. Through anointed teaching, life giving community, and by serving on a team we are confident your life will flourish in the God-idea for your life! The real strength of a tree is in its root system. Healthy roots produce beautiful fruits! It is our intention to see every person set their roots deep into Christ (Col 2:7), His church (1 Cor 12:18), His Word (John 15:7), and the ‘God-track’ for their life. (Acts 20:14) But blessed is the man who trusts me, GOD, the woman who sticks with God. They’re like trees replanted in Eden, putting down roots near the rivers – Never a worry throught the hottest of summers, never dropping a leaf, serene and calm through droughts, bearing fresh fruit every season. Jeremiah 17:7,8 (MSG) Those who are planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing. Psalm 92:13,14 (NKJV)
GROW
Intentional personal growth is the key to everything. Your capacity in Christ is unlimited, yet sadly for most people it is untapped. Your level of health and growth is the determining factor of the quality of your life and relationships. Our programs, courses, and streams are all designed to put the tools in your hand to create an extraordinary life. Spiritual growth is neither accidental nor automatic. When we speak of spiritual growth, we understand that it is primarily our faith in God that grows. We see WCCC as God’s greenhouse. Spiritual growth happens through five faith catalysts. They are: 1. Anointed Teaching 2. Spiritual Disciplines 3. Personal Ministry 4. Providential Relationships 5. Pivotal Circumstances The first three can be accomplished on one’s own but true depth and wholeness can only be accomplished in true community.
MULTIPLY
Our vision is to be one church meeting in many locations. That will require a company of people who have discovered the heavenly treasure within them, God’s path for life, and an abandon to the call to follow Jesus. We imagine a church filled with passionate people who have built their lives on the Words of Jesus and whose hearts are set to fill the earth with the knowledge of His grace! We can only have as many ministries, outreaches, and Connect Groups as we have leaders. Leaders are lifters, producers, and agents of change. Leadership is the lid. By providing on-going training through courses, conferences, practical experience and Hillsong School of Ministry (starting in 2020), your effectiveness can be amplified. The purpose of the leadership in the church is to equip the body to become world changers. (Ephesians 4:11-17)

OUR CODE

THIS IS A MISSION FUELLED BY FEARLESS FAITH. GOD IS THE AUTHOR AND SOURCE OF THIS WORK.

Therefore we refuse to think small, sink to status quo, settle for mediocrity or shrink in the face of hardship.

We will pray big prayers; attempt the impossible, until our city is filled with the knowledge of Jesus Christ!

WE MAJOR ON THE MAJORS. OUR HEARTS ARE CAPTURED. OUR VISION IS FAST. OUR MIND IS SET. OUR TASK IS CLEAR.

We are a church focused, designed, and united for the un-churched, the lost sheep, and the prodigals.

There is nothing under heaven more valuable to God than one lost person!

We will not compromise or sacrifice our mission of reaching a lost generation by catering to the preferences of comfortable Christians.

WE ARE A GENERATION OF GENEROSITY.

We live open-handed, big-hearted lives, graciously sharing our time, talents and treasures with others.

We will be known for this!

WE ARE THE HAPPIEST PEOPLE ON EARTH! WE WILL NEVER FORGET WE ‘GET’ TO DO THIS.

We will serve the Lord with gladness.

We do not take this for granted but live in the gratitude that we have been chosen to this- the highest calling!

WE NEED ALL HANDS ON DECK.

We are not the love boat, a pleasure craft or a kayak. We are a rescue ship. We need your full engagement.

Every member is a minister and every minister, ministering.

WE TOUCH HEAVEN TO CHANGE THE EARTH.

Our worship is without reservation and without apology.

Our atmosphere is heavenly, infused with His Presence. Our sound is loud, being heard throughout the land.

Our voices united and our hearts transformed. We celebrate Jesus with abandon.

WE ARE NOT NORMAL! WE ARE A PEOPLE NATURALLY, SUPERNATURAL.

We live by faith, lean on His presence, give ourselves to prayer, are Spirit dependant and expect nothing short of the miraculous.

We see the invisible, believe the incredible and receive the impossible. We take God at His Word.

THIS IS OUR CODE.

Our values

No Exceptions

All people, Christian and non-Christian, are valuable to God and His Kingdom. "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is long-suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. " 2 Peter 3:9 (KJV)

Non exclusive

People are eternal. Therefore their present behavior is not as important as their eternal destiny. Evangelism is a process. Our aim is to provide people with a safe environment of love, acceptance, and forgiveness so they may progress on their spiritual journey. "I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. " 1 Corinthians 3:6 (KJV)

Encounter

The simple presentation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in creative ways will impact and transform lives. "For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes--Jews first and also Gentiles." Romans 1:16 (NLT)

Excel

We excel when we commit to a lifestyle of consistent spiritual growth with genuine accountability. "Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the eldership. Meditate upon these things; give yourself entirely to them; that your progress may be evident to all." 1 Tim 4:14, 15 (NKJV)

Effective

Effective ministry is designed by God to function best through teams. "Under his direction, the whole body is fitted together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love." Ephesians 4:16 (NLT)

Excellence

We believe God is worthy of our very best. Therefore excellence should permeate every activity. By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks.

Exalt

In all things the exaltation of Jesus Christ is our purest desire and aspiration! "Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:9-11 (KJV)

Embrace

The most effective evangelism happens through people inviting people. "He first found his own brother Simon, and said to him, 'We have found the Messiah'." John 1:41 (NKJV)

Encourage

Genuine caring and loving relationships are key to the life of every endeavour. " ... but exhort one another daily, while it is called 'Today,' lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin." Hebrews 3:13 (NKJV)

Empower

We believe every member is a minister who has been given gifts to be discovered, developed and deployed. " Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them." Romans 12:6 (KJV)

Willow Kids

About willow kids

About Willow Kids

Willow Kids  is a children’s ministry program designed to develop the spiritual and relational needs of children ages 2 to 12 years. Here they will experience safe, age-appropriate environments where the Bible is taught in a creative and relevant way. Our vision is to see kids grow in their love for God and for others.

Willow Kids operates in two formats, Children’s Church and Sunday School. These two formats are rotated every week. All children are grouped according to the grade that they are in school.   We are closed on the 5th Sunday of the month – thus giving the children an opportunity to sit and enjoy the Willow Worship experience with their parents and families.

Serve!

Jesus came to serve!  Our prayer is that through Jesus’ example we can model to our children the importance of serving together to meet the needs of our generation and the generations to come; that’s changing and affecting lives.  At Willow Kids, we believe that it is important to develop relationships with those you serve with as well as with the children that you are serving. For that reason, it is vital to serve each week in the same service to grow these relationships. Please speak to one of our Willow Kids leaders to see how you can get involved.  We look forward to seeing God minister through you to impact children’s lives for eternity

In total, a service at Weston is about 120 minutes in length. Services begin [on time] with our Willow church band passionately leading the church in music and singing – song lyrics are projected onto the screens so you can sing along and/or engage in worship however you feel most comfortable. After the music portion of the service is complete, one of our pastors will come out to share a compelling and hope-filled message about Jesus

Sundays at Willow Church are exciting, and filled with passion. We believe that church should be an experience that is enjoyed rather than endured, and where anything is possible! Come as you are and expect to feel welcomed as our guest – but our prayer is that you would leave different than how you came in.

We believe that there is no junior Holy Spirit and so we strive to create a fun and safe environment where kids can encounter the love of Jesus and have a blast at church every single week – Willow  Kids, we make this a priority. The other thing we make a priority is your child(ren)’s safety. Because of that, we have a detailed check-in process for our Willow Kids program the first time that you visit. You’ll want to leave yourself an extra ten minutes to get signed in for the Willow Kids experience.

Check-In starts promptly at 11:15AM and closes at 01:00PM. Willow Kids is located at Willow Creek Community Church.
